Welcome to The Concept Academy.

Ok, it’s just a blog, actually. But hey, “Academy” sounds cooler (and fancier), doesn’t it? ;o)
In all seriousness, though, the name “The Concept Academy” was born for a reason: it’s kind of a sweet way to pay homage to Plato. Yes, “that guy from the cave”. Now, why would we do that?

Well, for starters, because the man pretty much single-handedly put the word “Academy” on the map. So gotta give him his props. ;o)). Most importantly, because Plato was the one who first understood (or at least, made it official) that there is another world out there.

A world inhabited by concepts. The world of ideas.

That being said, the purpose of this blog is to invite you all to not only be a part of this world, but to also help build it: by exchanging ideas, sharing thoughts and learning from each other.

Conceptual Thinking and Artificial Intelligence

Back in January 2019, I came across the interview below, with Mr. Kai-Fu Lee (李開復), one of the world's leading authorities in artificial intelligence, where he talks about the role of conceptual thinking in the age of A.I.

Asked about "which jobs Artificial Intelligence CANNOT do", here's his response:

"It falls into 2 large buckets.
One is jobs that require creativity, strategy and CONCEPTUAL THINKING.
And the other is jobs that require compassion, empathy and human connection."
