Apparently, Marx knew a little something about advertising. ;o)

Here's a snippet of a dialogue I had with my historian cousin.

Him: Say, cuz. What is it again that you do for a living?
Me: I create concepts.
Him: What do you mean, concepts?

What followed was a 45-minute long (failed) attempt to explain to him what the word "concept" means in advertising.

Luckily, he's a LOT smarter than me, so, by the end of it, he went:

Him: Mmm.. so a lot of things can be considered "concepts": a name, a slogan, a brand manifesto, etc. Is that it?
Me: Yes.
Him: Ok. So, where I might see - say - a logo, you guys in advertising may see a "concept". Correct?
Me: YES!
Him: Got it. It's one word. But it defines a bunch of things.
Me: YES!!
Him: Like Karl Marx's "Capital".

And just like that, the mic was dropped.

Thanks, cuz.

Deep Feelings

What if our hearts were the Mariana Trench and our feelings, creatures of the deep? Which feelings would swim the deepest? We give you the "Deep Feelings" T-Shirt collection.

Concepts are the first step of any artistic expression. No matter the canvas: album covers. Movie posters. Book covers. And yes, T-Shirts.

So, in partnership with Brazilian clothing company Reserva Ink, we developed a T-Shirt collection that explores the concept of "Deep Feelings", associating six of Nature's best divers with six of the most powerful and undeniable human feelings.

The result is a series of six artistic designs we're proud to share with you all on this post.

In our next posts, we'll dive (pun intended...;o) into each design, giving you a more in-depth (sorry, I can't help it; last one, I swear..;o)) view of the "Deep Feelings" concept.

We hope you like them.

Conceptual Thinking and Artificial Intelligence

Back in January 2019, I came across the interview below, with Mr. Kai-Fu Lee (李開復), one of the world's leading authorities in artificial intelligence, where he talks about the role of conceptual thinking in the age of A.I.

Asked about "which jobs Artificial Intelligence CANNOT do", here's his response:

"It falls into 2 large buckets.
One is jobs that require creativity, strategy and CONCEPTUAL THINKING.
And the other is jobs that require compassion, empathy and human connection."

(The complete version of his answer starts at 20'30", although I strongly recommend watching the interview in its entirety).

Enjoy!
